Tissue-specific 3D genome organizations: structural determination, functional implication and folding principles
The broad theme of my research is to expand the scope of structural biology from studying molecular functions of isolated macromolecules to characterizing their cellular organization and their cooperative roles in cellular processes. My current focus is in determining structures of large macromolecular assemblies at resolutions ranging from atomic to nano-scale, and detecting their abundance, orientations and locations within the crowded cellular environment. Specifically, we are interested in the spatial organization of the nucleoplasm and the genome.
