Programmable and Adaptive 3D Printing Materials with Dynamic Molecular Features
The proposed research work integrates small molecule and polymer synthesis, supramolecular chemistry with computer-aided design and 3D printing technique to develop the next generation adaptive 3D printing materials with programmable molecular and macroscale features. Combining top-down 3D printing technique with bottom-up molecular design, our approach plans to introduce sophisticated molecular systems and control their nano-to-macroscale structures, dynamics, and functions. The research work will enable the development of programmable and adaptive 3D printing materials for soft robotics, regenerative medicine, as well as materials replication and evolution to accelerate the discovery of emergent smart 3D printing materials.
