The overall goal of this proposal lies in the use of molecular self-assembly and bio-inspired self-replication mechanisms to construct
soft, organic piezoelectric materials with bulk polarizabilities exceeding those manifested by inorganic crystals. The emergence of macroscopic electrical
polarizability in soft molecular architectures will open new avenues to engineer mechanical energy harvesters and tactile sensors for bourgeoning fields
of activity that include soft robotics, nanomedicine, and the development of tactile sensors.
