In Memoriam: Ted Brown

Dr. Theodore “Ted” Brown, a pioneering inorganic chemist and the founding director of the Beckman Institute for Advanced Science and Technology, passed away on March 24, 2026, at age 97. As a transformative figure at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, he established the interdisciplinary research model for the Beckman Institute and co-authored the influential textbook "Chemistry: The Central Science."
