Two Former BYIs Received the NSF Career Award

Mikael Backlund, PhD, (2023 BYI), Assistant Professor of Chemistry at UIUC, received a 2025 NSF CAREER Award for a research proposal combining theory and experiments to determine the quantum information limits of single-molecule spectroscopy which could lead to advancements in the areas of health, defense, and energy.

Milan Delor, PhD, (2022 BYI), Assistant Professor of Chemistry at Columbia University, received an NSF CAREER Award for the project, “Realizing ultrahigh mobility semiconductors through light-matter interactions.”
