Beckman Foundation Introduces Grantee-Centered Initiatives to Foster Networking, Career Advancement and Personal Development
BeckmanConnections and Beckman Mentoring Complement Existing Suite of Online Resource Content
IRVINE, Calif. (Sept. 9, 2025) – The Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation announced it has expanded its resources for current and former grantees to include two new initiatives aimed at fostering networking, career advancement and personal development: BeckmanConnections, an online meeting place for the Beckman community of exceptional scientists, and Beckman Mentoring, which connects members of the Beckman community to share knowledge and experience and grow professional networks.
- BeckmanConnections is an online forum and email list created to facilitate communication among Arnold and Mabel Beckman Foundation Awardees, Alumni and community members to connect and share ideas, network, communicate career opportunities, and solicit feedback.
- Beckman Mentoring promotes a sense of community amongst Beckman Awardees, paired together to connect and share guidance for career advancement and personal development. Mentees must be current or former Beckman Foundation Awardees; Mentors can be current or former Beckman Foundation Awardees, Executive Committee Members, Scientific Advisory Council Members, Institute Directors, or Board Members. Pairs meet (at a minimum) once a quarter for one year and meetings can be virtual or in-person.
Grantees also have access to a suite of online resource content, including: Program application support materials with links to each national grant program info page, as well as viewable and downloadable tools such as overviews, FAQs, general guidance, and proposal examples; a video resource library featuring step-by-step guidance on a range of topics, from perfecting a scientific abstract to applying for a NIH grant; career trajectory videos that offer insights into academia, industry and medicine careers; episodes of the Career Conversations podcast; a closer look at Dr. Beckman’s inventions; dozens of profiles in science highlighted in the Beckman Friday Feature; and a Crossref Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to include in published work.
