Matthew Griffin Awarded The 2025 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award

Matthew Griffin, PhD (2024 BYI) has been awarded the 2025 NIH Director’s New Innovator Award. Per the NIH, the award supports “early career investigators of exceptional creativity who propose bold and highly innovative projects with the potential to produce a major impact on broad, important areas relevant to the NIH mission.” This High-Risk High-Reward Research program award will provide nearly $2.2 million to support new chemical glycoscience research in the Griffin lab to understand how microbiota carbohydrates signal to the host immune system.
