Founding Gift
In 1995, Dr. Arnold Beckman committed to a $1 million gift to support the construction and initial exhibit equipment for the Discovery Science Center in Orange County - later to become the Discovery Cube. Since this initial gift, the Beckman Foundation has continued to support the programming and special events at the Discovery Cube.
Annual "Arnold O. Beckman Award"
The Discovery Cube continues to honor and recognize the leadership and scientific excellence of Dr. Beckman with the annual presentation of the "Arnold O. Beckman Award" during their annual gala celebration. This award is presented to "individuals and organizations within Orange County that demonstrate outstanding leadership, generosity and vision in meeting the critical need to engage and educate children in science, technology and math, and play a vital role in helping to advance Discovery Science Center and its important mission.”
