Research Summary

Quantum information science leverages the ability of quantum systems to exist in more than just a binary "on" or "off" state to enable advanced computation methods and to sense tiny signals down to even a single molecule. The building blocks of these systems, quantum bits or "qubits," need their sensitive quantum properties to be precisely tailored for each application and to be protected from environmental noise. Molecular qubits occupy a privileged position due to the structural tunability inherent in their bottom-up chemical synthesis, but their small physical size makes device integration challenging. In this proposed research, we aim to develop polymer materials designed to help bridge the gap between these sub-nanometer qubits and the nano- to micro-scale environments of quantum devices and quantum sensors while safeguarding their carefully engineered quantum properties.
